A Breath of New Life.

I was walking through Goodwill a couple of weeks ago, when I spotted my next project.

It cost a whopping $2 I thought I would originally use it for my craft things.

So I spray painted it all black. (and took off the heart sticker on front)
But I didn't stop there. I then took gold rub n buff (yes, it does sound dirty to me too) and put it on the knobs, screens and around the edges of my cabinet.

Then I had an epiphany. (did you hear the music too...or was that just me?) It hit me that I should put it in my bathroom to hold all of my hair accessories. I can find stuff now! Really.... it is a miracle!

I Lied.

In my last post- I said that that was the last of my Valentine's Day stuff- but I forgot the banner I made for V-day. I think it turned out cuter than I thought.

Best of all...It was free...made from things I already had on hand.

The Last of my V-day Stuff

I purchased this thick felt heart placemat just after Christmas for $3 at TJMaxx. I knew immediatley just where I would put it.

I made some rosettes and hung them it on with ribbon. The top of my piano. Here is my simple Val. Day decor. Considereing I just started putting out V-day decor this year... not too shabby.

I got the red glass candle holders from a craft store 1/2 off after Christmas.

I found the birdies at the dollar store and the glitter hearts too. I was looking at the vases with the hearts in them last night and decided that they needed a ribbon/bow around them to complete the look.

The Other $ Store!

I was looking for a cupid for my front room. I finally gave up thrifting and had some time to kill, so I went to a dollar store that I hadn't been to in awhile. (Not Dollar Tree) They had the cupid I was looking for. I put a glittery heart on him (with a sticker so I can take it off) and Viola!!!! Happy Valentine's Day!

More Thrifting

On fri. my little guy and I tried to kill some time by going thrifting. I wasn't looking for anything in particular. I really wanted cupids and cutesy Valentine stuff but I didn't find anything like that at the stores we went to. I did find this cool candle holder. I actually didn't mind the gold, but couldn't stand the brown paint on top of it.

So I decided to give it a whole new look.

With a new coat of silver spray paint, topped with 2 birds I already had, and a dollar store glittery heart, it found a new spot on my hutch.

Christmas Decor Part 2

This year I chose to do something more whimsy with the hutch. I found some red and white damask wrapping paper that I had leftover from last year and taped it to the back. I like it. I think it is fun and even have my eye on some velvet damask wrappin paper at Target and will wait for an after Christmas sale to snatch it up.

Christmas Decor (part 1)

I love how my starbursts turned out. I found out how to make them Here. My Grandma Mary gave me this Santa just after I was married. I didn't like him. His gold on his hat was all scratched up and he just wasn't my style. But now he is. I am not sure why I kept him and didn't toss him out long ago- but I am glad I didn't. Every year, I like him more and more. This year he plays center stage in my new cloche on the piano.

Other items are from Goodwill, Michael's, dollar tree (and the wooden green glitter 'hope' sign is from Walgreens for $1.99)
