Book Page Wreath

I posted this on our fam. blog awhile back too- but here goes. I saw this wreath on a couple of friend's blogs and thought it was awesome so I made one too. It is made of old book pages. I cute out a ring of cardboard and wrapped black ribbon around it for the back. Then hot- glued the rolled up pages to it. Then I found this paper cut-out flowers from a local craft store. Here is a pic of them b4 I decided to put a little black paper around them to make them stand out more. I also put them on with hair clips, so that I can take them off and put on another design anytime I want to.

So easy and fun! Go make yours today!

Thrift Shop Find!

I found this table at Goodwill for $38. I noramlly wouldn't spend so much on a piece of furniture from a thrift shop- but this one was already painted and had the cutest drawer pulls already! What would I do without thrift shops???

Easter Table-scape

So I am really starting to get into table-scaping (Is that a word?) Here are some shots from Our Easter Dinner. (Well-some are of the night b-4)

I have had these dishes for years. I have never really liked them very much and almost got rid of them a couple of times. Then, when I was blog stalking one day I came across this. She used the same dishes and I was so excited that I could see how I would finally use them.

I also took the idea of a rose in the napkins from her, even though mine were just paper napkins. I didn't think I would like it as much, but it turns out that I think that I liked it more, there was a crispness to the flower/napkins that I liked.
I found this bunny at Goodwill for a $1.50 (or something close to that) I stuck him on our cake stand with some recess piecess eggs and it was a cute and edible centerpiece! That is my kind of decoration!
The kids table was pretty dang cute too!

Stealing Ideas!

Yes- I steal ideas! I can fully admit it too! Whew! I'm glad I got that off my chest! Rarely do I have a creative idea that is all mine. This one I took from here!

A cupcake wrapper, some paper grass, some shredded paper and some spray glue and you got your own nest!
It's so simple that it is just dumb not to do (okay- for me anyway)
I went to my favorite store these days: GoodWill...and found this candle holder for 25 cents (Yes- it was bright pink with glitter on the top.) Of course a little black spray paint...
And a small glass plate cover for 75 cents and I have a cute decoration for Spring!

I also made one for a sweet little milk- glass dish that I found there too for $1.
It took me under 5 mins to do this project! (Somtimes I impress myself!-lol)

Egg-stra Special!

What am I gonna do when Easter is over (on Sunday!) I am loving these sparkly eggs. My daughter helped me put them in our large jar by color! It makes me cheery just to look at it!

Changes

I posted some of this on my family blog- but there was more. I took this old window and flower arrangement and hung them together. It has been this way for quite some time.

Then, I thought- lets change it up a bit.So I added scrapbook paper and a nest.
But- The scrapbook paper nevr really belonged in my front room. So I swapped it out for another color palette and moved the location of the window and .....

Tadaaaa! I am lovin' it!

It Needs Something...More!

I bought this cute- topiary- thing at Micheals for a super great price. I have been looking at it lately and I realized that it needed something. On Joy's Blog- she had a post where you take old wooden salad bowls and use them as your bases or pedestals. So I went to Goodwill and wouldn't your know it...I found a perfect wooden bowl for this. (Yes- I know- it was super ugly! Even worse in real life!)(Yeah- like I didn't spray paint it black. C'mon- give me some credit!) It s a bit tall-but will do until I can find something better! I am excited about how simple items can be used in decorating. How many times have you passed something ugly in a thrift shop only to realize that in the right color and in the right context- it can become something for the eye to enjoy!

I. Must. Create.

I figured it was time to start a blog just for my projects and ideas. I kept posting those on our family blog and it is getting to the point where that is all I want to post about. (The kiddos do a lot of memorable things and I started our family blog to post about those things) This new blog will be my outlet to create and post. I need to give credit where credit is due. My true inspiration for the sudden need in creating is due to a woman that I have never met before. Her name is Joy. I stumbled upon her blog a couple of months ago and have been refilled with creative juices thanks to This Blog and some others. Wish me luck in this new blog challenge!
